Play helps young children to learn and develop through participation and communication, which research has shown to be the means by which young children learn to think. Messy and creative play are available daily, as is sensory and malleable experiences. We have a wide range of constructional toys, puzzles and games, carefully chosen to challenge enquiring minds. Our role play area and small world toys encourage imaginary play and exploration giving them an understanding of the world around us. We have a quiet book area and engage in story, singing and music sessions daily. Cooking is another weekly activity enjoyed by the children. Letters and numbers are introduced to the children in a fun way within activities and throughout the environment. Educational computer software is available to all the children. The experiences offered within the nursery are a combination of activities that are child initiated and adult led, where staff take the lead in helping the children to participate. With your help we will celebrate many of the cultural and religious festivals which fall during the year.
Throughout the year we have various outings in conjunction with our current themes; i.e. visits to the farm, seaside, fire station etc.
We also take regular trips to the local shops, libraries and nature trails, learning about our local community.
Children have a phenomenal ability to absorb new languages, and we offer the chance for children to join a weekly Spanish language session, delivered by a qualified teacher in a fun and informal way, including songs, rhymes and games.
